QOC Scottish Tour 2010
The tour is over and we are all safely back home, did we all have a great time, you bet we did!
Yes indeed we did, with lovely weather nearly all week and shed loads of beautiful Scottish scenery. The tour took us over a wonderful variety of roads, most of which we almost had to our selves. We all enjoyed the visits to places of interest. We had a lovely lunch stop on top of a mountain in the Cairngorms, where there were still large patches of snow, in June! We also had a lovely lunch at the Falkirk Wheel where we were made very welcome, parking the cars on the plaza out side the visitor centre. After having a nice lunch, that was all laid on for us, we had a boat trip onto the wheel, which lifted us 115 feet to a viaduct then through a tunnel before we turned around for the return trip.
We stayed in several hotels whilst on tour and they were all very good.
The whole tour went very well, with no more than two or three very minor mechanical breakdowns, which were easily fixed, only one of these was a Quantum!
I want to thank every one who went on the tour, for without them to enjoy it, it would not happen. In particular thanks to our Irish friends from the IKCC for joining with us on tour.
Thanks also to my other half, Carole for help with the organization and the navigation. The help from Steve Kodz with the mapping and putting together of road books and Paul Fenning for taking care of the finances, is much appreciated.
Please see the next magazine for a full report on the tour, a copy of which will hopefully appear right here on the web site when its ready.
